These core values reflect who we are as a community of faith.
Transforming Word » We hold as a core value the ability of God’s word to transform lives and cultures. We hold that God’s church is a new community, a community of Agape, composed of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures, but transformed and united in Christ Jesus.
Love Is The Driving Force » God’s love (Agape) for the broken people of the world caused Jesus to leave heaven and become human. God’s love for the broken people of the world drove Jesus to the cross. As followers of Jesus and through the work of the Holy Spirit, we believe that God’s love drives us as well. God’s love drives us out. As a church we do not exist to serve ourselves, but rather we serve God by serving and loving others.
Structure and The Spirit » In order to accomplish everything we believe that God is leading us to do; we will submit to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We know that God will always lead us to do things that are beyond our human ability. In doing this we must allow God’s miraculous power to work through us. Therefore, we place a higher priority on effectiveness as well as in efficiency. We also value walking by faith over status quo.
Relationship and Community » We believe in authentic relationships. To help people have an authentic relationship with God we will live in authentic relationship with people. We will love all peoples unconditionally and strive to help them become followers of Jesus. We will allow people to be real with us, as we are real with them in order for them to know the real God. We believe that true transformation happens in the context of small groups. Therefore, we will build Agape small groups with the primary purpose of loving and helping people reconnect to the Lord of life.
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, Jesus - the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.
Jesus is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life and offered the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven's glory and will return again someday to earth to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords.
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the son, Jesus Christ. He is present in the world to make humans aware of their need for Jesus Christ. We seek to be filled by Him as He provides the power for living, spiritual gifts, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing the will of God.
The Bible is God's Word to us. It was written by human authors under supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for believers’ faith and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.
People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character and person. People are the supreme object of God's creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by sin toward God in attitude and actions. It is sin that separates humans from God and the root of all evil in the world.
Salvation is God's free gift to us and we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can anyone be rescued from sin's penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus Christ in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment anyone receives Jesus Christ into his or her life by faith.
Agape Community Center is committed to loving people into the kingdom of God.
